Samsung’s next flagship Galaxy phone will feature an AI-assisted live translation function so users can chat to foreigners in real time.

Samsung on Thursday said the Galaxy S24 will have the feature that allows users to “talk” in a foreigner’s own language, regardless what kind of smartphone the other person carries.

Audio and text translations will both appear in almost real time.

Samsung claimed communication will be smooth and confidential because the service is powered by on-device AI.

Other AI services include a conversational search engine and an AI booking tool based on the Bixby voice assistant.

The S24 is scheduled for release here early next year.
