A FORMER car dealership that closed down earlier this year was dealt a second blow after having its windows smashed.

Police were called to the industrial estate site of the now closed FG Barnes Vauxhall in Kent after it was struck by vandals.

At least four windows were smashed and glass was left scattered across the floor outside the site in Park Wood, Maidstone.

However, the culprits are yet to be caught and an investigation is still ongoing.

As reported by Kent Online, a police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 9am on Monday, October 9, to a report of criminal damage at a business premises in Sutton Road.

“It is alleged that several windows to the building were deliberately smashed.”

FG Barnes shut its doors to traders in Maidstone earlier this summer.

However, its remaining branches in Shoreham and Guildford remain open to customers.

Another major car dealership to have closed down one of its branches this year is Sytner Jaguar.

The company’s Coventry showroom has closed down and relocated from Earl Place Business Park to Northampton.

The business left its premises on Fletchamstead Highway due to “the expiration of its lease”.

Just last month, Autovogue closed down after 30 years of business and blamed Jaguar’s failures as the cause.

The major car dealership said it spent £198,000 repairing Jaguar Land Rover motors last year.

Elsewhere, a car firm serving 1,000s of drivers in the Midlands is set to make a huge closing time change.

The Brindley Group, which has 12 new and used car dealerships across the West Midlands, will cut their opening hours to six days a week.
