KSA, Barbados Sign Air Transport Agreement

Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, signed in Riyadh today an agreement in the field of air transport.

The agreement was between the governments of the Kingdom and Barbados.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Kerrie Symmond presented Barbados in the presence of the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Abdulaziz Al-Duailej.

A Saudi-Barbadian agreement for air transport services

The bilateral agreement for air transport services between the governments of the Kingdom and Barbados is complementary to the International Civil Aviation Convention.

It is known as the Chicago Convention and was signed in 1944. The convention regulates international civil aviation traffic in accordance with the principles of fair and equal opportunities.

The agreement also aims to establish regulatory frameworks for air transport movement between the two countries in a safe and sound manner.

Moreover, this is in accordance with the principles of the Chicago International Treaty of 1944. It consists of regulating the granting of transport rights and applying the designation and licensing standards for internationally applicable airlines.

In addition, it will strengthen the rules and standards of air safety and civil aviation security.

Building international partnerships

The agreement comes within the civil aviation sector objectives strategy aimed at building international partnerships and signing new bilateral agreements.

This will further support the strategy’s ambitious goals, in addition to enhancing the Kingdom’s air connectivity to the world.

The Kingdom aims to connect it to 250 destinations in order to be a global logistics platform. It will  transport 330 million passengers annually by 2030.
