Josh Sargent delivers winning goal for Norwich City

Josh Sargent’s return this winter has been crucial for promotion-chasing Norwich City.

Sargent continued his positive return by scoring the winning goal in Saturday’s 2-0 EFL Championship triumph over West Bromwich Albion. The U.S. men’s national team striker started and played 64 minutes as he continues to get back to full fitness.

Sargent needed only 13 minutes to break the deadlock at Carrow Road, finishing off Kenny McLean’s pass into the back of the net. It marked Sargent’s second goal of the new year and his fifth overall this campaign.

Despite being substituted off in the 64th minute, Sargent watched as Norwich City doubled its lead to seal three points at home. Jonathan Rowe’s 12th goal of the season solidified the Canaries’ move to eighth place in the standings on 41 points.

Sargent scored with his only shot attempt in the match while also winning one individual duel.

The 23-year-old Sargent could be vital on whether or not Norwich City can boost itself into the top-six picture. Up next for the Canaries is a trip to fourth place Leeds United on Wednesday before a showdown with Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth round.
