We praised the 2022 Latitude 9430 2-in-1 for its thinness and selection of ports. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for its successor the Latitude 9440 2-in-1.

The Latitude 9440 2-in-1 is now shipping to replace last year’s Latitude 9430 2-in-1. Not only does it offer newer 13th gen CPU options, but it also introduces a brand new chassis design inspired by the XPS 13 Plus. The visual changes are obvious after a quick look at the Zero-Lattice keyboard and clickpad which look very different from the traditional keyboards and clickpads on other Latitude 7000 or 9000 laptops.

The unique visual updates, however, entail some notable drawbacks. For one, the Latitude 9440 2-in-1 has dropped the HDMI, SD card reader, and USB-A ports of the older Latitude 9430 2-in-1. Secondly, the newer model is also thicker and heavier than the outgoing one by about 2 to 3 mm and 100 g, respectively. It’s uncommon for a model to be both thicker than its predecessor while integrating fewer ports at the same time.

Of course, not all of the changes are downgrades. See our full review on the Latitude 9440 2-in-1 to learn more about all the changes both inside and out.
