25 Years After, Author Writes OnSanity In Abacha’s Military Leadership

LAGOS – Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, has been described as one of the most credible leaders since Independence who was misjudged by his critics.

In his book, ‘Sani Abacha: Nigeria’s Most Powerful Defence Minister and Head of State,’ Adebayo Adeolu revealed the untold stories about the life and times of Abacha, especially how he rose through the ranks as a young military officer through diligence and hard work.

He gave a concise analysis of his friendliness and relationship with several military leaders and politicians.

A creative writer with an incurable passion for writing on critical issues, Adeolu revealed in this book how Abacha agreed to offer the sum of $300,000,000 to the late business mogul, Chief MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993, presidential election, as the cost for his expenses on the June 12 election.

Adeolu, a businessman, freelance writer, and lawyer used the book to dispel myths about the late Abacha and the circumstances that surrounded his demise on June 8, 1998, at the age of 54.

It would be recalled that General Abacha died on June 8, 1998, in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja and was buried the same day according to Muslim tradition.

His burial without an autopsy, however, has fueled speculations that he may have been assassinated but reports established that the Federal Government identified the cause of his death as a sudden heart attack.

Other books written by the author include ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Black Pharaoh,’ ‘Fraud at The Hague-Bakassi: Why Nigeria’s Bakassi Territory Was Ceded To Cameroun,’ among others.
