“Ahsoka” Premiere Draws “Andor” Numbers

Lucasfilm

The first viewing numbers for Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: Ahsoka” are in, with analytics film Samba TV reporting the series pulled in a Live+5 day viewership of 1.2 million households for its first episode and 956,000 for its second.

Samba TV samples 3.1 million SmartTV households across the United States. That Live+5 day figure for “Ahsoka,” which had a double episode premiere on Tuesday August 22nd, is exactly on par with the 1.2 million households launch of “Andor” nearly a year ago.

It’s decidedly behind “Obi-Wan Kenobi” which premiered to a very robust 2.4 million households, and the 1.7 million who tuned into the third season premiere of “The Mandalorian” earlier this year.

Compared to other launches of late, Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” debuted to 994,000, whilst the Disney+ launch of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” drew 1.3 million.

The show serves as something of a live-action continuation to the animated series “Star Wars Rebels,” drawing some criticism for its reliance on familiarity for the animated shows, and was developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni for the Disney+ service.

The cast includes Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Wes Chatham as Captain Enoch, Mads Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.

The third episode premieres tomorrow night on the Disney+ service.
